AMODEO AND POLISTINA TO HOST TOWN HALL MEETING ON HOMEOWNER’S INSURANCE

 

NORTHFIELD – Assemblymen John Amodeo and Vince Polistina will host a town hall meeting on the difficulty of homeowners living along the coast of obtaining insurance coverage for their homes. 

            The town hall meeting will take place on Thursday, July 17 at the Performing Arts Center on 7804 Amherst Avenue in Margate from 6 PM to 8 PM.  The assemblymen have invited representatives from the New Jersey Department of Banking and Industry and the industry to answer questions about the changing homeowner’s insurance market and offer solutions to families having difficulty finding coverage.

            “With State Farm’s recent notice to its customers that it will no longer offer insurance to people living on the barrier islands, too many of our constituents were left vulnerable,”  said Amodeo.  “As legislators, we want to make sure New Jersey through the Department of Banking and Insurance fosters a market where people can get affordable insurance.  If the state isn’t doing what it should be doing, then we can step in with a legislative remedy.”  

            “It is shocking to hear that people who have never filed a homeowner’s claim ever can no longer get a policy and are now having difficulty finding a new company who will offer them coverage,”  said Polistina.   “John and I felt a meeting such as this one will help us get to the root of the problem and offer some practical guidance for those who are struggling to find coverage.”
