I consider it an honor to have received wide community support for my candidacy for Atlantic City council at large. However, due to a number of recent developments, I feel that it is in the best interest of party unity that I withdraw my candidacy at this time.

 

I entered this race with the intent of securing the democratic committee nomination and the backing of a solid slate of candidates. I feel that with both of these prerequisites missing, I would not be in a good position to offer an effective campaign.   

 

 

I am committed to the citizenship of Atlantic City and I intend to remain active in city politics. I look forward to a future opportunity to offer my candidacy when the circumstances are more appropriate for an effective campaign. I want to thank Councilman Marty Small for having the confidence in me and Councilman George Tibbitt for his encouragement and support.

 

I am delighted that my decision to withdraw will not leave a void in Latino representation among the candidates. I am encouraged that the democratic committee has selected a diverse slate, which includes Latino representation. 

 

I withdraw from this race with a good sense that the citizens of Atlantic City will have the opportunity to select between two formidable leaders as mayor of this city. I offer my best wishes to Mayor Lorenzo Langford and councilman Marty Smalls as they present their case to the voters, to lead the city for the next 4 years.
